Tips for Using Rotary Evaporator
Rotary evaporator, also called rotary evaporating machine, is a commonly used equipment in laboratories. It consists of a motor, distillation flask, heating pot, condenser, etc., which is mainly used for continuous distillation of volatile solvents under reduced pressure in chemistry, chemical industry, bio-medicine and other fields.
The four factors that affect the evaporation speed of the rotary evaporator include the temperature of the water bath, the vacuum in the rotary evaporator, the efficiency of condensation recovery unit, and the rotation speed of the sample bottle. During the use of the rotary evaporator, the water in the water bath, the water in the pump and the entire device must be kept clean.
The tips for using the rotary evaporator are as follows:
1. In the use of rotary evaporator, the rotary bottle and the rotary evaporator are connected to the main body by high-temperature silicone grease and the ground bottle, and is equipped with plastic standard port clamps. The connection is not very firm, and the rotary steaming bottle often falls into the water bath during use.
2. During the use of the rotary evaporator, if there is a power failure, the water in the pump will be poured back into the rotary evaporation system.
3. In the rotary evaporation, if the boiling point of the solvent is low, it is easy to happen that the rotary steaming liquid in the rotary steaming bottle will rush into the condenser tube and finally into the wetted bottle in the process of rotary steaming. The above situation is always unavoidable. However, if the rotary evaporator is kept clean, the formed oil-water mixture or liquid-solid mixture can be filtered, concentrated and refined, and column separation is used to obtain the target product. If it is not clean, it may cause a lot of trouble.
